Picking up Hope on the Lenten Path...

They are here. I saw them. We have had very little snow this year, but we still have the cold, and dead leaves that whisk around in the wind and rain. Beneath the debris ...they are still there!  "They" are crocus shoots, and the green of daffodil leaves! I spotted them in the garden again and my heart did that excited flip-flop. It doesn't matter that we still expect some snow this season(probably when we least expect it..), I have hope. Beneath the frozen ground, new life has been waiting. Spring is just around the corner!

She had hope too. It didn't matter how hopeless and desolate things looked, she knew that He could turn it all around. She believed that if He asked, he would be heard. "She" was Martha. Her brother Lazarus had just died, and she was hoping that Jesus would move him from death to life... and he did. He called him out of a dark place, into light, and there was great joy! Like everything else He did... this amazing gift came out of a place of abundant love. The miracle caused quite a stir among the leaders, and things began to change...the journey to the cross and resurrection had begun, and things would never be the same...

I picked up a "Hope" stone this first week of Lent. The hope is, that just like my crocus's, the God of the universe will keep moving me into the light. The new life is there, waiting, and each time He clears away the debris, my heart does an excited flip flop. It is never easy to have debris removed, or to be exposed. Allowing the God of the universe to come with indescribable love...removes all fear and  gives great reason to celebrate! That journey to the cross changed everything... and we will never be the same!

I hope today gives us opportunity to discover new life...
